# JW Merge

> Free online tool to merge multiple JW Library backup files (.jwlibrary) into one.

JW Merge combines highlights, notes, bookmarks, categories and study answers from all your devices into a single JW Library backup file. Everything happens in your browser: no data is uploaded, no account required, completely free.

## What it does

JW Library users often have study data (highlights, notes, bookmarks) spread across multiple devices (phone, tablet, computer). JW Library does not sync this data automatically. JW Merge solves this by merging multiple .jwlibrary backup files into one, so users can consolidate all their study work.

## How it works

1. In JW Library on each device, create a backup (Personal Study > cloud icon > Create a backup)
2. Open JW Merge and drop the .jwlibrary files
3. JW Merge merges everything automatically and shows any conflicts to resolve
4. Download the merged .jwlibrary file and restore it in JW Library

## Merge behavior

- All data is kept by default (union merge)
- Same note edited on two devices: most recent version kept, user can compare and choose
- Overlapping highlights: most complete version kept by default, user can adjust
- Bookmarks: all carried over, respects JW Library's 10-per-publication limit
- Study answers: longest (most complete) answer kept

## Technical details

- Runs entirely client-side using sql.js (SQLite compiled to WebAssembly) and JSZip
- .jwlibrary files are ZIP archives containing a SQLite database
- Compatible with JW Library database schema version 16
- Independent tool, not affiliated with JW Library or Watch Tower
